Studio
Memory&Material is an independent, full-service mournful design studio doulaing new worlds and relations through experience design, emerging technology, and participatory research.
Our studio is rooted in a critical and research-based design process that interrogates the nuanced context of each project and impacted audiences. Memory&Material supports early teams, companies, and projects in field research, concept design, product design, and general design consulting.
Process
Mournful Design is a research-based critical design practice rooted in the alchemy of mourning and black feminist values. In a time of compounding crisis and entangled systems, mournful design starts by asking what and who is at stake.
Story
Memory&Material was founded by Raya Marie Hazell an Atlanta based designer, artist, & grief worker. We are composed of a network of collaborating designers, artists, and technologists.
